More questions answered at the Seller FAQ
I haven't received the SMS yet.
Aiyoo, Sorry. We hope you are sure about the following:
- That your phone is switched on.
- Was inside network coverage when you asked us to send the SMS.
- That it is your phone number.
- And that it can receive SMSes.
Also, we respect the seller's privacy and do not want you to call them late in the night. So, We do not send SMSes between 11 PM and 7 AM. If it is late in the night right now, then your SMS will arrive tomorrow morning.
If you still think it is a mistake on our side, Please let us know.
What is a Verified Phone?
Soon as a Seller posts his Sale notice, We ask them to Send us a Blank Message from the Same Phone Number they used as their contact number in the Sale notice. Once they send the blank message, the notice becomes a verified notice.
Who is a verified Seller?
A Seller posting with a verified phone is a verified seller. The verification process was brought in to ensure that the seller is genuine and that he is serious about selling an item. Verification process tells us that the Seller has access to the Phone and if you call such a number you will most likely reach the same person who posted the notice. We recommend that you initiate your conversation only with verified sellers.
Should I Call an Unverified Seller to Buy?
A few sellers decide not to verify themselves with Roopit. This could be because of legitimate reasons such as:
- The seller does not have enough balance to send an SMS to Roopit.
- The Seller is not in the network range (For ex, they are travelling abroad).
It could also mean that the Seller is not serious, is not the owner of the phone number or isin't even a person. Should you decide to contact an unverified seller, We suggest you exercise caution and take precautions to protect yourself and your phone number from any possible consequences.
Can I trust this Seller?
All we know about a verified Seller is that he has access to the Phone that he used in his Sale Notice. Apart from it, we know only as much as you do. You can report abuse on a Seller by shooting a mail to us
As a Buyer, Should I Verify my Phone too?
No. But you should use only your phone number to interact with Roopit. Using someone else's phone number will be a violation of our Terms of Service.
Why can't you just tell me the Seller's number on the website?
We respect the seller's privacy and want to distribute their phone number only to real buyers like you. And the way we do it is by not showing the seller's number on the website and by giving it only to real people (who will typically have a phone number that can receive SMSes).
What is the right price to buy an item?
We would'nt know and it is your decision. But, if you need help in making the decision, You can get in touch with us and we will try.
I have the SMS, Now What?
If you are still interested in buying the product/Service, Call the Seller and negotiate the terms. This is completely outside Roopit's purview and it will not and does not want to know about the details of the transaction.
Will you give my Phone number to Someone?
No. That is a promise.
